XperienCentral R48
We’re excited to introduce Release 48 (R48) of XperienCentral. This update focuses on bringing you a first look at our brand-new Rich Text Editor, alongside important security enhancements, usability improvements, and a range of smaller fixes to keep your experience smooth and reliable.
What's new?
Our New Rich Text Editor
We’ve completely rebuilt the Rich Text Editor from the ground up. In an upcoming release, this editor will replace the current one — but you can already try the beta version today.
The beta is available from R48 and can also be rolled out on an R47 environment for testing without a server restart (because the necessary back-end changes were included in R47).
Here’s a taste of what’s coming:
1. Inline Tables
Create and edit tables directly within your content. With the new editor, you can:
• Insert tables straight from the toolbar.
• Add or remove rows and columns.
• Merge or split cells.
• Add any type of content inside a cell, from images to layouts — even nested tables.
This gives you more flexibility to structure content exactly as you need it.
2. Outline View Mode
Get a clear view of your content’s structure. In outline view mode, components such as tables, elements, and layouts are highlighted with labeled bars. Hovering over a component shows its type in a blue bar. This makes it easy to see at a glance how your content is organized.
3. Quick Image Insertion
Adding images is faster than ever. Use the new shortcut in the toolbar to drag-and-drop images directly from Windows Explorer or select them from the Content Repository. The image element is added automatically.
Enhancements Beyond the Editor
R48 also brings several other updates:
• Comments in Form Steps
Form steps now support a “Comment” field. This allows you to leave instructions or notes for editors. Steps containing comments are highlighted in the tree structure for easy visibility.
• Improved Link Title Editing (Accessibility)
Previously, you could only set a link title when creating a link on the canvas; after creation it was no longer editable — and the “Links” tab didn’t show a field for it at all.
From R48 onwards, the link title of any link can be viewed and edited directly in the “Links” tab of the “Change Properties” screen. The link title field is also shown by default when creating a new link from the “Links” tab. This makes it much easier to meet accessibility requirements.
• Mandatory Fields in Form Routing
When configuring form routing, required parameters (such as “Page” or “URL”) must now be filled in. This prevents errors or misconfigured routes.
Security & Stability
As part of our ongoing commitment to security, R48 includes updates based on the annual security audit performed by EY. The findings from this audit were implemented in R46.1 and are now fully integrated into R48 as well.
We’ve also addressed various bugs and implemented behind-the-scenes improvements to maintain the stability and performance you expect from XperienCentral.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
This release includes various bug fixes and optimizations. See the changelog for details.
